How to wire an non plug'n play tft to Raspberry Pi
-
Hello.
I need som basic information about where to start when wiring up an tft who not fit directly onto the pi.
There are written some codes for the pins on the tft on the datasheets from the supplier.
Connecting power is ok so the screen lights up but the rest of the pincodes gives no meaning for me, where should i connect the pins on the tft to which gpio pin on the Pi to get picture on tft.The next step is to install/activate the driver.
There are tutorials on how to do this, but i have a feeling that most of them are old an outdated. And that many things now are integrated into the Raspbian/retropie/emulationstation.
My screen example is this: http://wiki.iteadstudio.com/2.8_TFT_LCD_Touch_Shield_V1

out of all the countless tft screens made specifically for the rpi why did you go buy one for an arduino? you're better off getting in touch with your seller and asking for an exchange because they do have rpi versions using the same screen and 4bit ILI9325DS controller,

on that page are the schematics and pinouts if you really are dead set on connecting it. and if you get it connected you may then find this useful to try and actually get it working;

not sure if dt overlay supports it but there may be old notro fbtft drivers for it, itdb28 or itdb28_spi
and then find that the framerates are totally unsuitable for retropie gaming.
g'luck.

Hi, thanks for reply.
Yes i did a mistake an bought wrong screen, i dont know what happen, usually im checking out very carefully before ordering, but this time i screwed it up.
But i hoped there would be a possibility to connect this to a Pi.
But i can see now that it can be difficult to find out the correct wiring.Guess i have to buy another one for my Gameboy pocket retropie project.
The question is, are there anyone who have any good exprience with a 2.4 - 2.8 gpio tft screen for gaming with retropie?
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
