Adjust screen brightness?

Hi, is there a command or some config file setting to adjust screen brightness? Should mention I have the raspberry pi B and want to control brightness output of composite video. (Normally this would be done at the display but unfortunately for me i shaved off that portion of the screen's control board to get it to fit in an enclosure.) Thanks!
