Gamepad don't Work in the RetroPie menu!!

I have a big problem. I had configure my gamepad. But I cant navigate in the main-menu. The only thing I can, is to open the retropie-settings. the gamepad is working good in there. But I can't use the left- oder right-buttons to select emulator and then the game.
Can anyone help me?
