      Pi Model: 3
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.1
      Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      Controller used: 8bitdo NES30 Pro
      Error messages received: just major Bluetooth performance issues

      Hi new to Retropie and Pi's in general and I have next to zero Linux experience. My aim is to have my 8bitdo NES30 pro controller working in an accurate and lag free manner on the latest Retropie build (4.1) on the Pi 3. I thought the built-in Bluetooth would serve this purpose but have come to the understanding that using a dongle is the only way to achieve this. After reading much, I gather that a dongle is easier to setup (configure controllers with), more stable, and offers superior performance.

      What I can't seem to find an easy guide anywhere on how to disable the built-in Bluetooth in favor of using a dongle. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

        Try adding the following to your /boot/config.txt

        dtoverlay=pi3-disable-bt

          @Hype built-in bluetooth works fine for me with my 8bitdo NES30 Pro controllers without lag.
