I've been messing with this pi for a while, installing different OSs, trying to run emulations, yada yada yada. I was searching around for a way to emulate more effectively when I found this, installed it, and got everything working fine. Then, one day, when I was connecting it to my TV, it said something about "false bits" and then kept restarting the console. Occasionally the splash would come up, but then it would restart again. I completely reinstalled RetroPie, and it didn't help. Any ideas?
      -Raspberry Pi 3
-Micro SD card (I think it's around 32 gigs, but I could be getting mixed up)
-HDMI cable to receiver which sends signal through HDMI to TV.
If you need any more information, ask.
This also doesn't work on other displays, the only one it works on is my computer monitor. Please help.

Have you done anything to modify your /boot/config.txt file? Are you sure the HDMI cable is good? What happens if you connect the Pi directly to the TV, not though the receiver?

@Eater_Of_Cheese are you using the same retropie image you used the first time? If not you may have a bad image. As far as the first problem you need to properly run the shutdown (press start and go down to quit) otherwise you can get sd card corruption and need to reformat. The best thing to do is get it working and then make a backup image of the sd card.

@obsidianspider No, I have not modified any files, and connecting it directly to the TV had the same problem. But I connected it to a much smaller portable TV, and it worked fine. Maybe an aspect ratio problem?

@Eater_Of_Cheese Do you know the resolution of the TVs you've tested with? I have a 1080p TV that I had to mess with the overscan on and my 720p TV is fine out of the box.
