Retropie 2nd Handheld
-
Hey everyone, as the title states, this is my second handheld. I used a raspberry pi zero on this one. It is unfinished as I have not wired the audio yet but as soon as I have time ill get on it. I designed and printed the case in abs without warping. I managed to achieve this after talking to a professor of mine who gave me some advice on structural integrity, which I plan on making a youtube video on. It's nothing fancy but it helped me out so I will share what I've learned.
It has a 7" screen along with 7000 mAh lithium battery from a galaxy tablet that is no longer functional. I originally ordered a smaller 4.5" screen but it never arrived so I got a refund and decided to use what I already had to reduce cost.(sorry, the pics of the internals are old but you can see that things started to change as they did not function well and had to be replaced. I am now using a different battery charging circuit without the USB port which allowed the case to close properly)
It took a lot of work to get to this point and I am glad I am finally here. Though truth be told, I am already planning on making a third handheld with the raspberry pi 3 n_n
PS: I did not realise this before but it seems to be about the same size as the Nintendo Switch... -
@dsaenz825 impressive build! I can't seem to see any internal photos, but it looks good on the outside. I bet that battery lasts a while, 2000 gets about 10 hours on my tiny handheld, so I'm guessing at least 20 hours (your screen is 3 times larger than mine)
How does it compare to a normal PSP?
-
There we go, hopefully that fixes the image issue. There are two reasons that this is a bit large. First obviously the screen size. Second, I wanted it to have the same feel of the super Nintendo controller so I measured the buttons and d-pad to make it about the same size.
It is as thick as the thickest part of the first PSP model

@dsaenz825
Wow that 7inch screen is hugh! Nicely done! -
That screen is massive! Very nice build. Is it heavy?
-
For a handheld, its a bit on the heavy side weighing 1.2 pounds but I blame the screen and battery for most of that weight. Still, it isn't too bad. Aside from the initial lifting of the device, I do not notice the weight at all.

@dsaenz825 yeah that fixes the internal shots. It looks factory made with the 3d printing and the chopped up controller board!
-
Can you maby make Some documantation I want to do the Same but can you say witch parts u used and put the 3D printing files online
Thanks, Philip -
Very nice build!
