Start a game and keep pressing buttons (or the Dpad) until you are in an old fashioned looking config menu. Then choose "Select video mode for mame4all + rom". Then choose wisely or experiment.

A better way for this is to change the aspect ratio on retroarch:
          -start a game
-while playing the game press Select+X to enter retroarch menu
-go to video options - aspect ratio and select the best option for you

@iconrumble I dont see the lr-mame4all option to choose from my emulators...do I have to change my roms folder as well?

location as of now is : \roms\mame-mame4all

@TwoGuidosGaming Rom folder is correct. When launching a mame rom press a key during the runcommand warning to enter runcommand menu; there you should be able to select default emulator for mame (mame4all, lr-mame4all, lr-mame2003, etc)

Most classic Mame arcade games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong are in the 3:4 aspect ratio. A classic television has an aspect ratio of 4:3. That's because in the arcade cabinets they rotated the televisions that they used 90 degrees. If you stretch those games to fill your 16:9 wide screen television they are very difficult to play and or watch in my opinion.

                        1. You might try that thingy I posted on 30 April.
                        2. In Advance Mame (not Mame4All, that one's too old). Press TAB to get to the menu. Then goto: "Video --> Mode" and choose a non-auto mode.

Bear in mind that you might have to get a different ROM set if you try lr-mame. All mame versions on the Pi use a different ROM set. On the (older) Libretto/Retroarch version that my RetroPi version uses I cannot save the options in Retroach and I find its menu's and way of configuring somewhat non-intuive. And me 'ol Mame configuring tips that I wrote down years ago don't work. Lr-Mame works quite different from "regular" or "oldfashioned" Mame

                        Good luck! :-)

no you won't. lr-imame4all uses the same romset (0.375b) as mame4all-pi...

@Meneer-Jansen Thanks for the tip, I forgot to mention that this biuld is for 5" hdmi screen, so Im not too concerned about the aspect ratio looking strecthed as long as it not too bad.

How can I have the image flip 90 degrees for specific roms?

if you're using lr-imame4all, this thread shows how to rotate (it's for lr-mame2003 but it's the same setting for any libretro emulator): https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/585/vertical-games-squashed-on-libretro-2003

That is possible in "regular" modern versions of Mame on your PC (and Android). Unfortunately I can't find this option in the somewhat older versions that my Pi uses (advance-mame and mame4all).

P.S. I forgot that lr-mame4all indeed uses ye 'ol 0.37 ROM set too.

Wait a minute. It is possible, be it not from the Menu. You must edit advmame's settings file /home/pi/.advance/advmame-0.94.0.rc and change the line
                                  display_rol no
                                  to:
                                  display_rol yes
If it's rotated the wrong way around then change the "ror" setting instead. I think "rol" stands for "rotate left". Good luck.

P.S. With advmame (and maybe lr-mame versions higher than lr-mame4all) you can save games. So got those

? Save that moment for ever! ;)
