Cabinet build but now the controls!!!
-
Hi all, total newbie here so i don't know any raspberry/programming/Ipac terms. My little son and I have just finished putting our mdf cabinet together today and will vinyl it tomorrow. We are hoping to get it ready for Xmas day and won't be playing it before then. The monitor is de-plastic cased and ready to slot in. I bought a Raspberry pi 3 and I bought an Ipac 2 kit with a set of 2 player zippy joysticks with all the wires needed. The kit I bought is the one below
I have no instructions on how to wire the buttons and joystick kit to the Ipac2. I've looked at the joysticks and they have 8 connections on each but when I google to find out how to wire an Ipac it only shows left, right, up down etc. So I don't know how the diagonals would connect.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a total beginners guide on how to connect the buttons and joysticks to the IPAC2? I am having 6 buttons per player and a One player and Two player button. My cabinet also has a hole on each side that would come in handy for pinball. If anyone can help me get this sorted within the next I week I would be extremely grateful. π

Yes, you just need to go to the Ultimarc Ipac2 Website and read through the instructions, link here. (scroll down) It is well illustrated and very clear. Mine worked first time after following the guide.

Cheers, I had seen that. I think that I connect all of the buttons to the Ipac and also connect them together in a daisy chain and then connect one to the GND terminal so that sort of makes sense.
I don't know how to connect 8 terminals from each joystick to the Ipac. It seems to only have left, right, up, down. Also where do the 1 player and 2 player buttons connect?

That is correct, there are 4 switches, one for each direction. When you move diagonally, two switches are activated. Why do you not know how to wire them?, the link I posted shows exactly how to wire up with diagrams and photographs. The section labelled "installation" explains it as follows: "Connect one side of each switch to the screw terminals as indicated on PCB. "Daisy chain" the other side of all switches together and connect to either of the "GND" terminals on PCB. Some micro-switches have 3 connections β only use the ones marked "NO" and "COM". Don't connect anything to the "NC" tag. Below is a diagram showing an example of 3 joystick micro-switches connected to inputs on the I-PAC board."
This is really clear and answers your question.
Also where do the 1 player and 2 player buttons connect?
They connect to the terminals labelled 1 and 2 respectively. The left side is player one and the right side is player 2. Every terminal is labelled clearly. Am I missing something here with your problem?
