      Pi Model: 3B
      RetroPie Version Used: Latest
      Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: None other than controller
      Controller used: F310
      Emulator: PSX

      So, this might be answered before but I couldn't find anything when searched.
      I just installed my first RetroPie and dumped in a couple of games.
      I played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 on PS1 and saved my career, with no errors.
      But when I restart the game there is no saved careers.

      I figured that is was a permissions problem, but I've set "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx" to 777, and no luck.

      In /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg" i've set:

      input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/psx/"
      savefile_directory = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx"
      savestate_directory = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx"
      #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"

      What am I missing?

        you need a valid bios. https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/playstation-1#bios

          Awesome, thanks!
          I did not realize that such "important" file was not included by default.
          But I guess that is because of legal rights.

          Quick followup, is it the same for PS2?
          In the wiki, there is a segment on bios.
          But the path in the wiki does not exist, and there are no reference to correct filename.

            @pyd in the documentation it says that ps2 doesn't work for pi:

            https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Playstation-2
            "This is only for x86 builds- Not the Raspberry Pi!."

            so it (and paths) are not installed on your pi
