      Hi Everyone:

      Pi Model: B+
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.1 then downgraded due to xbox controller problem
      Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: Xbox wireless receiver, usb keyboard
      Controller used:xbox 360 wireless

      Just some advice please. I'm new to linux and have spent some hours on youtube learing terminal commands and how to create and edit configs using nano, renaming files etc.. Still get a bit confused and forget things but am getting there.

      I started off with the latest 4.1 kernel and strangely the xbox controller worked ok without xpad or xboxdrv installed. I was having some trouble with Kodi jumping two steps when using the dpad and so decided to downgrade kernel after some reading.

      I used command sudo rpi-update 2ef601a50b68eebeeb4dc3c6c525855961891be6 (not this exact command) to downgrade after reading a guide.

      Is there a way to find out what kernel I am on currently, as believe it or not I have forgotten! And is there a way to download an old SD card image for that kernel?

      I think 3.6 is the last stable version with working xboxdrv?

      Thanks and appreciate the help!

      Chris

        @877 uname -a

        you should be able to use xpad on the latest release - not it won't work if using an rpi-update kernel - you will need the last proper "packaged one" as it comes with required headers. However it won't work out of the box with Kodi, unless you try out the v17 one which you can configure the controller on

          @BuZz thanks for the help, I'll try a fresh install and give kodi17 a go. Not sure why I had neither xpad or xboxdrv installed on 4.1 and the controller worked fine after only editing rc.local
