      Pi Model: B V1.2

      RetroPie Version Used: 4.1.5

Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website

      USB Devices connected: Yes

      Controller used: Yes (Xbox Elite)

Error messages received:WE CAN'T FIND ANY SYSTEMS! CHECK THAT YOUR PATHS ARE CORRECT IN THE SYSTEM CONFIGURATION FILE, AND YOUR GAME DIRECTORY HAS AT LEAST ONE GAME WITH THE CORRECT EXTENSION.

      Guide used: 1) https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive 2) http://mardell.me/blog/how-to-load-roms-from-a-usb-drive-on-retropie/.

      Attachment of config files: http://pastebin.com/raw/jTSDdBhh

Hi al, I could really use some help with my raspberrypi 3. I recently set it up to run retropie and it was working great. I had noticed last night that it was running off the 8 GB SD card even though I had been putting all of my roms on a 64GB USB drive. I did some research and found 2 links explaining how to run my retropie from my USB drive instead of from the SD card: 1) https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive 2) http://mardell.me/blog/how-to-load-roms-from-a-usb-drive-on-retropie/. Both links had about the same steps and I followed lnik 1 for the most part. After following all of the steps I restarted my pi and it booted into the retropie landing page then switched to the message that reads "WE CAN'T FIND ANY SYSTEMS! CHECK THAT YOUR PATHS ARE CORRECT IN THE SYSTEM CONFIGURATION FILE, AND YOUR GAME DIRECTORY HAS AT LEAST ONE GAME WITH THE CORRECT EXTENSION." So naturally I checked my USB drive to make sure all of the game directories were still there and that my ROMs were still in the correct places. All looked well so thats when I looked at link 2 to make sure everything was good with my config file and it said to do this: sudo cp /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg.bak which I ran to make a back up and then I went to open the config file and it is just empty so I found a copy of what the config should look like and pasted it im still receiving the same error. Can anyone help me out here?

no they don't. 1) says to not edit your es_system.cfg file, but 2) exclusively says that. they're entirely different approaches. we only recommend method 1).

doing some of hybrid of both methods will break everything. you need to reverse everything you've done and start again.
