      Is there a way to change the controller name when you boot up a game. Currently it says "USB , 2-axis 8-button gamepad" on the bottom left but I would like it say "SNES Controller" instead.

        @enigma7 It's how the controller advertises itself so I don't think you can rename it. Any Linux experts got a different view?

          @markyh444 haven't tried it myself but it might be possible to rename the config that is generated in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypadsand perhaps to change the input_device = name but it may very well be coded to that name and may not work otherwise. Anyways if I were to attempt it that would be my guess but can't say it will work or not, just have to try and see.

            add input_device_display_name="my name here"

            if you change input_device it will break it i think

              @dankcushions That worked! Thank you. Yes, input_device breaks the link. For anyone else interested. I had to give "=" a space on both sides for it to work. Thanks guys!

                  @dankcushions Where do I place the "add input_device..." at?

                    @sekrit

                    The location has since changed to /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/autoconfig/name-of-your-controller.cfg
