Renaming roms on my USB stick results in duplicate entries in the list of games on EmulationStation
-
Hi, total newbie to both Retropie and Raspberry Pi in general. A buddy built me one last week. Anyway, I had a few ROMs on my PC that I added to the USB stick he gave me, and when they showed up, I realized their names were a little cluttery ("Bubble_bobble" instead of "Bubble Bobble". So I renamed the ROM files on the USB stick and now the updated name AND the previous name are both showing up in the list of games on EmulationStation.
How do I go about cleaning up the list of ROMs? Are there now multiple copies of those ROMs on my Raspberry Pi? is that why the old and new names are showing up in the list?

I figured out at least one way to clean up the duplicates. I had to plug a keyboard into one of the USBs on the retropie and go in and manually delete them using the file editor application that I found in the retropie menu. Not sure if there's a way to rename the ROMs once they're over there as well, but at least I've got A way.

@jworkin after scraping your names will show up proper even if the filenames are a little less readable. You never want to change the filenames with mame as that is how they are identified by the scraper among other things.
