Athena: new lr-mame overlay
-
Athena is another of those really classic arcade games.
Here's a new dedicated overlay. It is different from other existing bezels as those use the original flyer artwork; that I don't really like.
Mine is based on images I was able to find on the web that are part of an old official comic book (left side of the screen) plus another nice image (on the right) that I presume is fan art.
All images were "restored" (scan quality was quite bad with very visible halftoning from original paper) and adapted for the overlay layout.Overlay + cfg's + setup info is available in the Ovl Repo.

Love your overlays! Thanks for another one!

Once again a true masterpiece. Thank you very much.

Launching and Scrape images added.
Restored arcade Flyer front page.
You can find this and more hand crafted quality overlays in the rpie-ovl repository.
And if you want an easy way to install them, @meleu created a great dedicated script.
Perform these commands on your RetroPie:cd git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/meleu/rpie-art cd rpie-art ./rpie-art.sh
After launching
rpie-art.sh
script you just have to follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. Once you have therpi-art.sh
script, choose the Update option to get all the latest art in the repository. -
According to the flyer image Greek goddesses were having a good time eating (too) ;-D
Usually Greek statues are known to show top fit athletic bodies; it seems SNK people had a different opinion. -
@udb23 Hi, your work is great, I really like to ask you how to make such a layout?
-
@rurounikenshin Sure, what do you mean with "how" exactly ?
What software I use ? Mainly Inkscape (freeware) and Adobe Photoshop Elements (but any free photo editor should be ok; e.g. Gimp). How to implement in Retroarch/Retropie ?
Check here. How to creare vector images from bitmap ?
Check video here. -
BTW Working on an updated overlay that uses cool SNK 40s anniversary Athena artwork ;-)

@udb23 Thank you very much for taking the time to teach, I will try to learn
