      Trying some roms that aren't working on my Mame_libretro on my retropie 3.6 (pi3). Upon attempting to load it appears that Mame_libretro is Mame2003. In retropie setup I selected install Mame_2010 but after 5 minutes of installing it failed saying something about not finding 2003... I'm not entirely sure.

      So, is Mame2010 better and will it possibly run roms that my current setup will not?

      How do I install mame 2010?

      Thanks.

        @jimd0586 I would recomend updating retropie to 3.7 (retropie-setup --> 1st - update retropie_setup script --> 2nd - binary instalation).

          @iconrumble Ok. Will do. Will I need to reconfigure a lot of things? I overclocked my pi (to 1350 MHz), etc. Will this update restore everything back to stock ?

            @jimd0586 It's not supposed to change your configs... Just make a backup before, just in case.

            I also recommend reading this: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
            Each mame emulator is compatible with a specific romset; additionally, there are roms who need a parent rom or a bios rom in the same folder, so be sure you are using mame emulator with the correct romset (maybe that's why you can't run your roms???)

              mame2010 is 'experimental'. you probably shouldn't install and use it unless you have a specific reason.

              rather than attempt to throw roms at mame emulators until one runs :) give this guide a read: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

              in short, each mame emulator is tied to a specific set of roms. you need to make sure you have the right roms for the emulator, so i would suggest obtaining the full romset for mame2003. and starting from there.

                I had the same problem with my overclocked PI3 (retropie 3.7).
                I think your problem is the same.

                1. Remove your overclocking settings.
                2. Try.
                3. Yes, it takes about an hour to build.
                4. At the end add again their overclocking settings.
                  Cheers
