      Hi there,

I'm trying to get some N64 games to run. I tried out all the different emulator choices, mostly with Mario 64.

Mupen64 plus GLESN64 looks great, but apparently doesn't load my controllers. I can't press start to start the game; the yellow text saying that the controller configs are being loaded is not displayed in the bottom left corner.

Even though the controller isn't loaded, I can still use Select+Start to exit back to Retropie...?

Glupen64 DOES load the controller and works, but unfortunately looks horrible compared to the smooth rendering of Mupen64. I'd much rather use Mupen64. I also noticed some graphic problems in one of the games.

Any help in getting the controller to load correctly would be greatly appreciated. I am running the latest Retropie auto-SD-installer on a Raspberry PI 3 with an Xbox 360 controller.

@Luebbi Have you tries selecting a different emulator on the runcommand menu? There are 2 versions of Mupen and only one pulls the Emulationstation configs. The non lr version should be able to auto-config controllers, but that doesn't always work, so you either have to use lr-mupen or manually configure the controls for the config files.

Can you look into the n64 config folder? Do you see a file called InputAutoConfig? When I recently got a new image I had the same problem. Keyboard or controller would not work. I realized the Retropie or Emulation station didn't copy the InputAutoConfig to the n64 config folder. So the only button the worked was escape to exit mupen.

I had an old saved InputAutoConfig so I just copied that in there, but I bet that file in another config folder for retroarch emulators

Thanks for the replies (and a happy new year to you guys!)

I tried selecting all the different emulators, Mupen64 plus GLESN64 was the only one that worked with good rendering.

The InputAutoCfg.ini is in config/n64, and it does have values for the XBox 360 controller included.

For those interested, I managed to fix this problem. The inputautoconfig.ini had values for a keyboard before the xbox controller. I edited out the keyboard entries, works like a charm now.

2 years later... thank you so much. I would have never figured that one out.
