I'm running RetroPie 4.1 on the Raspberry Pi 3 model B, using a generic SNES usb controller. Using the RetroPie premade SD image from the website. Just got it for Christmas. I had everything set up and running great. The controller was easily recognized and all the buttons mapped very easily. Then last night the save state fuction stopped working. Every time I try to save it just says, Task Failed: Save State. I'm pretty sure the read/write permissions on the rom folder was changed somehow. I'm not sure how because all I've done is load up games for the past few days. I've been trying to find a guide on how to reset the permissions manually. I've already tried the permissions reset option in the config menu, but it didn't solve the issue. I know it is trying to load the saves from the correct folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@turtlebear sounds like you accidentally changed the save slot (select+left / select+right).
