Mame2003 audio crackling - Mortal Kombat games
-
Hi all
I know this is a known issue regarding Mortal Kombat 2/3 and some other games developing crackling audio as the audio buffer fills up, per https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-libretro/issues/43
For what its worth I'm running RPI 3 overclocked to 1300mhz, with Retropie 4.1. Have had most success with mame2003 core above all the others.
Per the above thread, I am trying to find where I can manually adjust the setting DCS_BUFFER_SIZE to at least delay the onset of the audio crackling. The default appears to be 4096 with reports boosting it to 8192 delays the onset of the audio problems.
I would like to try and make the buffer even larger again (say 16384) if supported to see if that at least delays the sound problems when playing. Happy to do some trial and error.
Anybody able to point me in the direction of the relevant config file for making this change?
Thanks

@darkmenace i'm afraid you can't adjust it without pulling the repository, changing the code and recompiling. not that you'd want to - it delays it but the sound gets way out of sync. it's arguably worse than the distortion.
Let's stick to the other thread for anything else: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2612/mortal-kombat-2-3-umk3-audio
