ControlBlock 101 - First Connection to RPi
-
I have an RPi3 running RetroPie. I bought a ControlBlock, and connected it to my RPi using the big black female connector on the bottom of the ControlBlock. I plugged my RPi power cord into the now-connected ControlBlock, but nothing happens. Do I need to do something else first before it can power on the RPi? Do I need to connect a switch? Do I need power cords for both the RPi and the ControlBlock?

@bobmaucher You need to go to the Petrockblog home page mate, it'll show you how to install the Powerblock. You do need a switch, optionally (but recommended) an LED.
You then to exit Retropie and code the Powerblock in so the RPi knows what it is and what it'll do. You'll only need to power it from the Powerblock then, but until you code it in you need to use the RPi's.
Quite simple to do, I'm an idiot and I managed to follow the instructions and install/code it!

@Danorak1981 Well that was helpful - thanks! I saw the guide on their site, but didn't know I needed to do that RPi config for the ControlBlock if I wasn't installing a switch or controllers (yet). I'm brand new to this type of thing, but I'm loving it.
I followed the guide (I'm also an idiot), and it seemed to install correctly. I'll need to connect my switch to the ControlBlock before I know for sure that my setup works. Thanks again!
