      Using newest version of RetroPie 4.1
      Using XBOX controller afterglow
      Also my first installation

      Long story short.
      Found all my ROM sets-Atari,NES,SNES,PS1, and MAME. Ran into a little issue with my PS1 install because I was forgetting the bios. But I got by that and moved onto my MAME ROMs.
      I moved my all my ROMs over to the PI using a flash drive. That is when I noticed the PS1 and MAME were not working. I handled the PS1 and like I said got it working properly. I read up on my MAME at the usual sites listed here on this forum. I watched Herb's video on YouTube Easy ClrMamePro Tutorial (Updated for RetroPie 3.3)...although there are newer versions the tutorial was spot on with the new version. I downloaded ClrMamePro, I grabbed my DAT 37b5, grabbed my ROM set for MAME and followed his video exactly. I watched it several times to ensure so. At this point after moving all the other ROMs I felt comfortable moving things over the network instead of using my flash drive. I updated some of my other ROMs with new games and moved them over the network with no problem. So I did this with my MAME, restarted ES and no MAME anywhere. I tried mame4all and mame-libretro and restarted ES every time and still no MAME. I then went back to the flash drive and still ended up with the same result.

      What gives, what part am I leaving out or missing?

      thx

        @duckhunter Are the ROMs definitely on the Pi? 0.37b5 should work with https://github.com/RetroPie/mame4all-pi and https://github.com/libretro/imame4all-libretro

          @duckhunter Are you using a full romset or trying indivdual roms? 0.37b5 is a non-merged set. You need parent ROMs in order to use clones. ie the game you are trying to play relies on a piece of code from a game you haven't installed. It could be the same game or even a different game from the same company, ie TAITO or CAPCOM... My advice is either download 40GB of crap or find a non-merged set so the files are standalone.

            @columboscoat I am new to the whole retropie so that is probably my issue. when I click the first link you attached and I get to the clrmamepro screen I am not sure where to go to identify what games are supported. the second link I can navigate. I am looking at the excel sheet within and I sorted it by Pi 3 and then OK on the RPI3 status. So it should be understood that those are the games supported according to the particular MAME I used? I assume yes because of the dat file I used.

              @columboscoat yes they were individual roms I was downloading. I did not know there were full romsets. I'm sure that its written somewhere and I probably missed it. there are a few ROM's I would really like, I don't mind have a ROM set but would clrmamepro help me get the individual ones I want?

                @duckhunter I can only use my own experience here... get a 0.78 set or google it. They are available as a non-merged (standalone) set. A CERTAIN WEB ARCHIVE SITE FREELY FINDABLE VIA A CURSORY SEARCH WILL TURN IT UP. Stick the ROMs in the Arcade folder and use lr-mame2003 as the emulator. 90% of what I want is there.

                      @columboscoat saying some roms are available on a certain site is against the rules. If you have a problem with that (and I'm getting a little tired of your attitude), you are welcome to go and use another forum.

                        @BuZz Yeah, I've read the rules. And stuck to them. Please explain how I have strayed from your doublethink nonsense.

                          @columboscoat I've already explained it.

                            @BuZz My attitude? That's a laugh. If you don't like it then ban me. I have tried to do nothing but help people here. I can send you many, many examples. Maybe I don't like your attitude. Who do I complain to?

                                What is archivedotorg? The Internet Archive is a San Francisco–based nonprofit digital library with the stated mission of "universal access to all knowledge". It provides free public access to collections of digitized materials, including web sites, software applications/games, music, movies/videos, moving images, and nearly three million public-domain books. Is any reference to google or firefox or AOL banned too? Wise up.

                                      @dankcushions Not picking a fight, not in the slightest. As far as I am concerned I have done nothing wrong. I see people being referred to search engines all the time. If I had posted a direct link I would apologise and move on. Archivedotorg is nothing more than a repository. Referring people to it breaks none of the forum's rules as far as I, and others, are concerned.
                                      Where is the dotuk link in any of my "non-conforming" posts?
