      I see many tutorials about dual booting into different operating systems, but I've never seen this particular scenario that I'm asking about.

      If I have 2 pre-made Retropie images (each runs emulation station, but each has major differences), is it possible to setup a dual boot scenario where the two choices are either of my Two Retropie images?

      If so, would each Retropie have to be done from scratch, or could i somehow burn each image to each respective partition?

      Granted, the SD card would be large enough for both images.

      I'm looking for the most straightforward, clean way of achieving this.

      Thanks.

        @KillerQ Just use 2 different SD cards. That's my advice. Why install the same OS with additional packages twice and split them? It makes zero sense. I'm sure it can be done but I'm also sure it's one of those things that if you need to ask... you probably shouldn't be doing it.

          Yea, you're probably right, lol.

          I was just curious.

          I have multiple sd cards already, but this was for a rotating monitor arcade cabinet, and I wanted to separate landscape and portrait games completely.

            @KillerQ It can be done. Technically. It would require 2 boot partitions and 2 root partitions. And some sort of Linux bootloader like "grub". I'm not sure Raspbian can deal with this. It is a £25 computer afterall...

              @KillerQ I have a dual boot Linux / Windows Laptop. If I could just swap out the "hard drive" I would. It would be a hell of a lot quicker. Take my word. Changing the SD card in the Pi is the best option, unless you welded it in...

                @columboscoat

                Good analogy.

                I'll just build another cabinet that's dedicated to portrait mode and buy another Pi. Problem solved.

                  @KillerQ sometimes a physical solution is actually the best solution. No problem. Have fun. That's the important thing. I know Pi users are thinkers and tinkerers!

                    Thank you!

                    (The sad part is - once I solve a problem, or build something, I never even use it.) lol

                      @KillerQ yeah, I get what you are saying. I actually use mine but I also enjoy the tinkering and set-up just as much, if not more!
