Hello all. Fairly new to using emulation software. Setup RetroPie this weekend on a Raspberry Pi 3. Everything seems to be in good working order. Using a 0.78 romset for lr-mame2003.

Is there a step by step guide out there to help clean up the rom list and get it down from 4000+ to something more manageable? Getting rid of clones and other unecessary roms?

      Thanks so much!

@soonerdoc You can use a "lite" dat. See here:
        https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/MAME#lr-mame2003

This will provide a working only, no clones set. It's not an exact match but I have used it with success for what I wanted. Tutorial:

You can use a tool like this if you want to create a custom list:

2 years ago I've created a github-project to cleanup all your roms.
maybe this is something for you.
