I can setup both my PS4 controllers fine in Retropie, both work great. However if I pair them back on my PS4 by plugging in a USB cable, I cannot get it working with Retropie again. I have tried going back in the Bluetooth menu and reconnecting, tried changing the connect mode from default to background to boot, nothing is working. I've tried putting the controller in pair mode by hitting the ps + share buttons while booting and while fully booted. To get it to work again I have to do the entire setup from scratch. Am I not able to use the controllers on both? What's odd is both controllers still show up in the registered devices menu, they just won't pair again once I use them on my PS4.

Are the Pi and the PS4 powered on at the same time? If so, that's the issue - UNLESS the PS4 controller supports multipoint (doubtful)

            Thanks for the reply

            Raspberry Pi 3
            Retropie 4.1
            PS4 genuine contollers
            HDMI out
            Class 10 32GB Micro SD

I'm not sure if it supports multipoint, you can obviously have more than one bluetooth controller connected to the PS4 at the same time, not sure if that is the same thing.

I tried having the PS4 unplugged and I cannot pair back to the Retropie once I use it on the PS4. I also cannot use it on the PS4 after using it on the Retropie unless I hard plug it back into the PS4 with the USB cable. It is like the controller stays with one or the other. Last night I also tried the different "security" modes:
            DisplayYesNo
            KeyboardDisplay
            NoInputNoOutput
            DisplayOnly
            KeyboardOnly

None seemed to make a difference. Basically, if I leave the controller for the Retropie only on Retropie it is fine, if I leave the controller for the PS4 only on the PS4 it is fine. I like to play with two people every now and then though.

            Thanks again

@DKAudio Basically, if I leave the controller for the Retropie only on Retropie it is fine, if I leave the controller for the PS4 only on the PS4 it is fine.

Hello, i am having the same issue with my ps4 controller. I usually leave my ps4 on sleep mode when i am not using it so its almost never turned off completelly. Whenever i ucue the controller with my ps4, its working great but if i want to swith and use it on de Pi3, i have to delete the registered dewvice and re-register the controller then it works ok. I cant only re-pair it cause that never works and i dont know why. When the controller is off, if i press the PS button, it will open to that last connected device though so if it was the Pi3 then it work ok and same for the ps4.

Did you find a way to have it being able to pair to de Pi3 without without having to unregister the device ? if yes, i'd like to know how please ?

              Thanks.

@darthlink Has anyone found a resolution to this? Just got a raspberry pi3 and having the same issues with the ps4 controller. How can I get the controller to automatically pair once the pi3 is turned on?
