PC Engine Game Help
-
I am trying to get (Cosmic Fantasy 2) to work on my Pi unit.
every time i try to run the game it boots me back to the game selection here are some of the steps i have done so far:
updated EVERYTHING i could on the retro pi.
tried the 2 different emulators that are available.
replacing/renaming syscard3.pce
I have a (card pack) that i downloaded and added as well. (SUPER/CD-ROM SYSTEM V2/3.pce)
made sure the bin and the cue names match perfectly.i was wondering if anyone was able to get this game to work, and if so, the steps that you used to get it running.
I have the original game but i cannot seem to rip a new bin from it (tried a few different methods to no avail)thank you in advance,
I would love to play my favorite childhood game again. -
@Jeremy.Gracias did you put the syscard3.pce (all lowercase including extension) in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ ?

@edmaul69
Yes i have placed it in BIOS and in the ROM set and verified that the ROM works as well. -
@Jeremy.Gracias you said you renamed the syscard3.pce file? If so it might not be the correct rom. I would google the correct name and download the known correct one if that is the case.

It seems like you're just trying anything blindly. Read this first https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/PC-Engine
If the game works on a pc emulator, it's time to check the cue file. Pi is case sensitive. -
@edmaul69
I will scour the net and see if i can find another Download for (Cosmic Fantasy 2).
Ill let you know what i come up with tonight.
thanks. -
@Darksavior
these were all suggestions from this and other forums that said that solved the issue. i will look at the link provided tonight and see if anything that i haven't tried is on it.
i would love to make a Bin/Cue for the original game. " since i already have it. " but any methods that are out there will not work with my blueray burner for some reason (LG model)
thanks for your suggestion i will post back as soon as i am able and hope i can get it to work "fingers crossed" -
@Jeremy.Gracias
Back-in-the-day I believe I used CDRWIN v4.0 to rip my TG-CD discs. I tried the newer versions of CDRWIN but only the version 4 actually does the job correctly (even thought I haven't tried it in any OS's newer than Windows 7). I know nothing about Blu-ray burners so they could be causing issues as well.Also make sure that your BIOS file has a md5sum of ff1a674273fe3540ccef576376407d1d

Thanks everyone for your help!.... got it running finally.
Turns out it was a (TINY) error in the cue and bin names that i over looked.
GAME ON!!!
