HELP - XBOX One Wired Controller Doesn't work
-
Hi all,
I'm fairly new to this, just got an rpi3 last week, downloaded the latest retropie and have tried for hours to get my XBOX one controller working. It is connected via usb, but as far as I know retropie has no idea it's connected. When I plug the controller in it vibrates, but there's no light and when I try to configure it nothing happens. When I run lsusb it does not show up, I've researched and tried a ton of different things (I'm assuming my controller is the 1697 version since I got it a little over a year ago) but nothing seems to work. I was wondering if anyone out there has a 1697 XBOX controller rpi3 and the latest retropie working. If so, if you could let me know how you got things working that'd be awesome. Any help would be much appreciated, links to other fixes probably wouldn't though I'm pretty sure I've tried everything there is out there.
Thanks in advance,
John -
If lsusb doesn't show it and there is no light, it's probably not properly powered (to my knowledge, lsusb always show something that is connected, even when it doesn't know what it is). What's your power supply ? Is it a 2.5A ? Are there other usb device connected to your raspberry ?

Yes, it is a 2.5, and there's a wireless keyboard/mouse dongle in one usb slot. Like I said when it is plugged in or when the rpi is turned on while it's plugged in it vibrates so I'm assuming it's getting power but I could be wrong. While it and the keyboard/mouse are plugged in this is all I see...

It doesn't mean it gets enough power, but anyway you already have a 2.5A power supply, so let's assume it's not the issue. Do you get anything in dmesg when plugging/unplugging the controller ? Also, did you try updating your firmware ?

Sorry, I guess I just assumed it was, but yes it's cased with a fan using a 5V/2.5A power supply. I haven't checked that, I haven't used Linux in years so pretty much back to beginner but I can take a look later on today when I get home. Not sure about the firmware, I've tried so many things it's a possibility but I honestly can't remember.
