      Hello all,

I've tried searching endlessly and still have not found a solution to my issue. I cannot for the life of me get my Xbox 360 wireless controller working with Advanced MAME on a Raspberry Pi 3 under Retropie 4.1.13.

      I'm using the wireless dongle.
The controller works in Emulation Station
The controller works in all other emulators.
The controller works in lr-mame2016 (putting roms in Arcade folder)
The controller works in Final Burn Alpha (both fbalpha and fbalpha2012)

The controller does NOT work in advmame 0.94.0
The controller does NOT work in advmame 1.4
The controller does NOT work in advmame 3.1

So basically it doesn't work in any of the advmame emulators but DOES work in all the lr mame emulators.

Yes, I have tried hitting Tab and configuring input. Input choices all look correct (ie joy button 16, etc configured) but it will not recognize the controller at all.

If I hit Tab and select Calibrate Joystick, it just flashes and nothing happens. It does not recognize the controller.

I don't know if I'm missing anything, but when trying to go through the MAME menu and hitting a button to go to runcommand, I only have the option of the 3 advmame emulators, so I can't test if the controller works with the roms in the advmame roms folder using an lr-mame emulator that does work.

Let me know if I'm missing any information that may help. I'm at my wit's end at this point.

      Thanks!
      Mike

Okay, so after experimenting a bit, I moved all the roms from the mame-advmame folder where they were by default (using Rey's 128GB image) to the mame-libretro folder and that allows me to choose the lr-mame emulators, which are working fine. So this method acts as a good workaround but still does not resolve the issue. I'd still like advice on that, if anyone has any.

You won't find help for 3rd party images here.

          Try asking rey for help

@herb_fargus Aren't both rey and floob members on this site and answer questions? Considering the "official" image supports advmame, why wouldn't someone answer questions?

@LittleMike I have no idea who rey is.

we have no idea what he has done to the image he released so its fruitless to even attempt support. His image is also illegal as it ships with roms and does nothing but hurt the retropie project.

              We do not condone piracy.

We can only provide support for the official image we ship.

@herb_fargus Understood. Can you tell me where advmame keeps the controller config files? Maybe I can dig around in there.

@littlemike hi there! I'm also having the same issue with my Tronsmart Mars G01 controllers.. They work for all other MAME versions but not AdvMAME which load roms that the other MAME versions don't.
My Tronsmart Mars G01 controllers use the Microsoft 360 profile. Were you able to get your controllers to work with AdvMAME? If so, could you please shed some light and help please.
