I've had a great deal of help off the chap I bought it off, but I'm contentiously asking questions, so I thought rather than harass the guy all day I'd make a post on here for you guys to be really nice a help a brother out!

I know to save a game you press select and R1 together, but how do you actually load that game?? Does the device have somewhere hidden saving slots like you would have on a Nintendo classic mini, because they were actually useful...!

Also, despite the device coming with two PS3 controllers, I've bought a Pi SNES controller separately . Now I've tried to configure this by going through the options selecting each button for use and from there I can select consoles and games, BUT! when actually trying to start and play the game, it simply does not correspond in recognizing my controller....NOTHING HAPPENS...! I can't even press select & start together to get out of there....I wasn't told I'd need a keyboard/mouse-pad for this device, for say connecting the wifi on it, so I'm waiting for that to come in the post. Do I need it to configure and fully use my SNES controller.

ALSO! Say I'm attempting to play DOOM 64 for, that's right, you guessed it, the N64 and it's like the light have been turned out....despite attempting to up the brightness within options, it still is really dark and unplayable....is there something within settings for this game I can turn it up?

And last but not least, there are some games, say as an example carmageddon 64, where I can get onto the playing screen, yet no buttons will actually accelerate or do anything....it just looks like there's a lot of configuring to do overall, so any help would be great, just so I can relax and enjoy this thing.

      Thanks!

          it's this device https://joysticked-co-uk.myshopify.com/collections/consoles/products/retrogamingconsolewith17000games

and I was asking them questions via this page https://www.facebook.com/joysticked.co.uk/posts/373029379740586?notif_t=comment_mention&notif_id=1485977564033232. I'm brand new to all this, but seem to be doing more harm than good where ever I ask about this stuff....! :0(

@Billy-Lee ok first of all, we cannot help you unless you download a new image from our site. It is illegal to sell retropie with a commercial product - you should complain to the seller. It's also illegal to ship with 17000 copyrighted games.

You have unfortunately supported someone who is cashing in on other people's work.

Had no idea, mate. They have a page on facebook as you can see and most stuff you do see advertised via facebook seems to be legit. What do you mean, download a new image?? As I say, I'm new to all this.

                @Billy-Lee Read https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/

You didn't realise that buying a product with 17000 games preinstalled wasn't legal ?

You are wrong about facebook - facebook is full of piracy and people selling RetroPie and Kodi setups illegally.

Hopefully there will be more of these http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38906561

The figure of how many games isn't relative as far as the sale goes as they are all very old games now. I think you're wrong in assuming everyone on facebook knows that they're illegal because clearly they don't. They see it advertised as I have, take an interest and purchase it. Please don't reply like a smart arse when clearly like a lot of folk purchasing these products, I'm unaware of the illegality of it. Start a page on there condemning them and report them if you're passionate about it. I have this purchase, which it is not illegal for me to have and I'm entitled to ask questions to help me use it. It it the distributor who's the bad guy, not me, and yeah, now that I know, hopefully they do clamp down on it.....it's like those many many sites that have the latest movies available to watch. they'll illegal, but there's a hell of a lot of naughty things that happen in this world without worrying too much about that in my opinion.

@Billy-Lee Wildly incorrect there dude. They are still subject to copywrite despite their age.

Also, @BuZz is sick and tired of reporting these sites and sellers and I know for a fact that he has reported these sellers previously as I brought them to his attention when Facebook suggested it as something I may be interested in.

Ultimately, his report has gone un-heard.

I think you guys have to mindful towards people who clearly aren't aware and try to answer respectfully in a constructive way without sarcasm and a condescending tone. You're both very clued up on this all whereas a lot of people, like me simply are not hence this whole post.

@Billy-Lee it just seems to me like you are turning a blind eye to the fact that people are profiting from the hard work the people who contribute to the RetroPie project put in.

When you're streaming films off the internet for free illegally and it starts playing up, do you go to the person who made the film to complain?

And I don't think it's condescending to point out that you've been duped by the guy who sold it to you. I think you should be directing support questions to them if they're making money off it.

Where have I complained? I'm asking questions about a purchase. Again, you just can't help being condescending . The only 'complaint' is towards you and that other chap's tone.

You're really just fishing there now buddy for something that isn't there. If you've got nothing helpful to say, move on.

Look, I'll be using this site from now on for any purchasing or downloading. I do agree about the concerns of piracy in distributors being ripped off. I have this device now with retropie, but won't be making any further purchases via advertising on Facebook now that I'm aware it seems to be a common place, as informed, for people to do such things. I'm just a guy who enjoys retro games as a reminder of how great it was being a kid growing up in the 80s and wanting a little help.

I'm yet to have kodi on this device. It is illigal to have that on for movies and sports? Genuine question like the ones about my new controller and working various games were.

I was legitimately surprised you thought this was legal.

The wiki should always be your first port of call, there is some great information in there and i recommend reading threw it.

                                        https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki

[removed references to youtube channel that now promotes piracy]

You get 10 save slots per game, if you have a save that you want to reaload. Start the game with the save and hit left trigger and select and it will load. You change save slot by using select and up or down on d pad.

To set up your controller his start(with working controller) and bring up emulation stsation menu. I dont have it in front of me but there will be an option to re map a controller. Select it and go threw the prompts with the snes controller until setup. You will have less buttons then it asks for so just hold an already mapped key down to skip those buttons.

Not sure about the 64 games problem, the pi3 cant run most of them anyway. Check the compatability spreadsheet in the wiki. You could try changing the emulator by pressing "a" when you load up a game and muck around with it there. Or lower the resoultion.

I to bought a kit off the internet that had retropie already flashed to a sd card, i got my moneys worth out of the components and didnt feel like they were making money off retropie. First thing i did was re flash the stock image anyway.

You wont need a mouse but a keyboard will help down the line somewhere

Even when unaltered and not calculated into the price in any way, including a pre-installed RetroPie package as an incentive for sale is illegal .

This is always the best course of action in this situation. These pre-made images are mostly put together by people with only a passing knowledge or even interest in how the software works. It's usually only a matter of time until they fail outright.

Thanks! I'll check out the link and YouTube. This is all I wanted, some help in setup without the politics, exchanges & threats, so I appreciate you taking the time to help me.

"You get 10 save slots per game, if you have a save that you want to reaload. Start the game with the save and hit left trigger and select and it will load. You change save slot by using select and up or down on d pad."

Thanks! I've managed to load the game with your advice, but it seems to be select & right/left for loading different saving slots. There looks like there's countless saving slots...! I've, say, selected saving slot 2 and let go of right & select, but nothing appears to have loaded. When I press up or down with select nothing appears to happen.

" To set up your controller hit start(with working controller) and bring up emulation stsation menu. I dont have it in front of me but there will be an option to re map a controller. Select it and go threw the prompts with the snes controller until setup. You will have less buttons then it asks for so just hold an already mapped key down to skip those buttons."

When I hit start I get 'main menu' the. Scraper, sound settings, ui settings, other settings, configure input and quit. I've always clicked on configure input to which a box comes up detecting 3 game pads (two PS3 and one SNES) and prompts me to hold a button to configure, which I've done so and pressed each button it prompts me too until it gets to what would be PS3 controller buttons in which I have to use the PS3 controller to skip down the list and press ok. It's from this point I can use my snes pihut controller, but not whilst in an actual game, only to select the console and games themselves. :(

"Not sure about the 64 games problem, the pi3 cant run most of them anyway. Check the compatability spreadsheet in the wiki. You could try changing the emulator by pressing "a" when you load up a game and muck around with it there. Or lower the resoultion."

Thanks!! That did actually work. I changed the emulator to mupen64plus-gles2n64 and from doing so it didn't jump as much with the intro and the picture (brightness, colour) was a lot better and it's now playable.

"You wont need a mouse but a keyboard will help down the line somewhere"

I bought the all in one as I'd like to add kodi to it . Should arrive next week hopefully.

So, I'm just stuck with not being to use the pihut snes controller. I can only do as mentioned and come out of the game with start & select, but not use any other buttons :/ maybe I went to the wrong screen when pressing start, but that's all I could see there, the configuration, which I went through, but still no joy :(
