Atari 800 and 5200 emulators won't show up in Emulation Station

I've successfully ran NES, SNES, and MAME games from my recent raspberry pi3 with the retropie setup. However after loading some Atari 800 and 5200 games into the micro SD card and rebooting emulation station it doesn't even offer the 800 or 5200 emulators, they just don't show up. So I can't open them to even configure anything.

I've tried installing the 5 different BIOS into the proper folders, I've tried renaming the 5 bios files to all lower caps like I found in some other help responses.

When I go to the retripie file manager and look around it does show an exclamation point in front of a file that has to do with the atari 800 config. I'm sorry I don't have that exact file name in front of me at the moment.

What are the extensions of your roms, and which directories are you placing them in?

They should show up in emulationstation, even if you don't have the bios files configured yet.

The Emulation Station entry for Atari 800 should appear as soon as roms are detected in the default directory:

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/atari800

All of my roms are in sub-directores of this folder, and Emulation Station happily detects them.

I have roms with various different formats, such as

Ghostbusters.ATR
DrunkChessboard.xex
SWANDEMO.DCM
FujiBoink![demo].com

Please note: I have updated my configuration file for Emulation Station to allow the front end to display files which the Atari800 emulator can read, but which are not included by default in Emulation Station.

Ok, so what happened was..... with the SNES and NES roms I had left them in their zip folders. And the emulators seem to handle that just fine. But apparently the Atari and the Apple2 emulators don't recognize the zip folders. Yes, I know that's a beginner mistake, but my previous knowledge is zero.....so...... And now I know what it means on the github documentation that the accepted extensions like .ATR etc are specific for the destination folder. I am so new at this I didn't even know what to look for. But I'm reliving the 80's like a boss now.
