I updated my Retropie 3.7 System to Retropie 4.1 today and unfortunately I recorgnized that now all my individual overlays are gone. Before I used specific overlays for many roms (for example an Arcade Machine for Street Fighter). I did this by putting a cfg file in the same folder as the rom (for example ssf2.zip.cfg for super street fighter 2). This cfg file contained the information about the overlay (input_overlay = /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/overlays/borders/ssf2.cfg). This took me a lot of hours of work. And now everything is gone :-(

So why can't Retropie 4.1 recordgnize those old configfiles anymore? the config files still exist in those folders.

I am using Retropie on a Raspberry Pi 3; 32 GB San Disk SD card; Official Raspberry Pi Power Supply

@Water-White Check in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfgIs overlay_directory pointing to the correct place?
Looking at this there seem to be 2 paths to the borders... /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/overlays/borders and /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/overlay/borders
I use the second path, note the change of spelling from overlayS to overlay. Change it and see what happens.
