minivmac - better integration in emulationstation?
-
Has anyone made an carbon-theme for minivmac or does one exist?
Perhaps, it would be better to put minivmac in runcommand as part of the macintosh and the macintosh theme of carbon(emulationstation?). Both are Macs and only one system is shown in emulationstation. What is your opinion?

@Swampy can you tell me what disks and bios i need to get this to boot the os? also if i have to install things like mac paint separately?

@edmaul69 more notes here:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/1780
I thought I put a wiki page up on it but I guess I didn't get to it. I was still debating on how to categorize it as it emulates a few other types of macs (at least the original emulator does)
Anyways the filenames and paths are detailed in the built in help of the setup script.
@Rookervik added it to his pixel theme. You can probably just copy the assets of the macintosh in the carbon theme as its basically the same.
I think I separated them out as they have diff calls for BIOS and disk images and launch a bit differently. It's experimental in its current state may change in the future if we ever get back to it. I just hastily threw it together as a gift for my father in law for Christmas

@herb_fargus so i found a place with a bunch of games crammed into multiple disks and the programs. I am going to use basilisk to try to put everything all on 1 disk. The one issue was knowing to change vmac.rom to vMac.ROM.
-
@edmaul69 pesky linux and the case sensitivity ;)
minivmac is unique in that you can compile the emulator within the emulator, its a bit of a weird system. has a bunch of binaries for each machine variant instead of flags for systems like basilisk
I think on the minivmac site there is a guide on creating dsks but I presume its similar to basilisk, I really don't know much about the emulator. just enough to barely get it working.

@herb_fargus you can use basilisk to create the disk images as well. i am about to go use basilisk so i can try to put all the programs onto 1 disk. i do have a bigger issue though, because of having a 15" tv inside an apple iie green phosphor monitor case i have to edit the config.txt to give me small black bars on the sides as the screen is slightly bigger than the monitor case. however, this emu completely ignores all this. systems like dosbox will give me black bars on the top and bottom if it is trying to maintain the same aspect ratio as 1024x768 and others fill the whole visible screen using a 640X480 style aspect ratio. is there any way i can get this to output correctly?
i am also confused how to install stuff if it only mounts a single disk drive and no hard drive? -
@herb_fargus so no matter the resolution i choose the sides get cut off. I am on a non wide screen tv with a max resolution of 1024x768.
-
@edmaul69 for minivmac? The version I included is a patched SDL build by vanfanel because the mouse pointer was bugged in the main source. So I'm not sure how alterable the aspect ratio is with that build. I take it none of the other video options through runcommand worked?
-
@herb_fargus so using the runcommand1024x768 and 640x480 cut off the sides. using the really strange ?720x480? it works normal. also using control+f in the emu puts it in a window mode that shows the whole thing. however 720x480 (i think thats the resolution) it is too blurry to want to use.

@herb_fargus here i used my tv settings over so you can see how much is getting cut off
