Hello folks, after read this post about docker on raspbery pi, i wondering if already exists a docker image with all stuff, or some customized stuff ready to run =).

Have someone tried something in that direction? I mean build a docker image.
I think on that way, we can distribute our retropie customized builds more easily, or use this tool to backup our arcade versions.

@rapguit I'm not a fan of docker, but I'm not sure the use of it in this case - since controller configs etc depend on what controllers someone has, I don't know that I see much point in people sharing customised versions (and I'm not a fan of that either as it means people will come here wanting support for them).

I have been using docker for a year and is a quite interesting project, you can have exactly same software across different linux versions, issues like missing dependencies or different compiler version will be avoided.
The downside is the extra work and the bit of performance loss because running on a container, may not worth if the main platform is a raspberry pi and we also suffer low performance.

@rapguit I love this idea. I took a quick pass at what it would take to build a Retropie Docker image and run it in Raspbian here :

            https://github.com/waltisfrozen/retropie-docker

Obviously it's not working, but this should be a good place to start. I think extending the terminal from the container back out to the host OS so that it can display emulated games via HDMI out could be a challenge.

@waltisfrozen i glad to read this. Do you think that is possible to create a retropie image that can be built and run on a lubuntu SO too ?

Because i'm building arcade machines with scrapped computers and furniture too, and i love to run the same arcade version in different types of machines [hardware]. Specially on old pcs with lubuntu or on rapsbary ones, depending of the kind of the project. What do you think?

                  Hello.
I think run docker in a raspberry for retropie is not necesary.
But I have made this image of docker to run in your computer or if you want in a raspberry. I use for develope and try things in retropie.

@iwanttobefreak If your image contains ROMs, please remove the link.
