ResidualVM Grim Fandango error
-
I installed ResidualVM and Grim Fandango on it. The game has some glitches but it ran correctly for 2 hour of gameplay.
Now I'm stuck and it seems that when I try to do certain actions (Olivia sequence) , the debug console appears saying:
Allocator out of memory: couldn't allocate more memory from linear allocator
and then the game crashes.
If I try to play doing different actions in different part of Grim Fandango world, the game runs correctly but to complete the game I need to complete the sequence where the game crashed.
Raspberry pi3
Retropie 4.1.14
ResidualVM with software-render optionCan you please help me?

either a bug in the software or you have , as the error says, run out of free memory. Do you have a high gpu_mem set ? You could try lowering either temporary lowering it to make more system memory available (still make sure you got enough to display emulation station) or if they talk about video memory increase gpu_mem in config.txt

I think it's a bug.
I tried to raise the gpu_mem to 384 and to lower to 128 (default is 256 for Pi3), but the issue was always there. The game crashed. -
might be good idea to report it on the official github page https://github.com/residualvm/residualvm look through issues as well perhaps someone had the same problem or it could be a problem related to the pi.
I do have another idea though .. you can install residualvm on a linux machine on your pc (you could try windows but not sure if that would work) copy your game to your pc as well as the save game. In the event the save game is compatible you should be able to load it up. If it is compatible play further on the pc and see if it has the same problem if not make sure you play long enough to go behind the part where you had problems. Then move the save games back to the pi so you can play further.
Might work if the place where it happens doesn't need a revisit. Might work if save games are compatible on windows / linux / pi.
Be sure to backup your savegames though

Thanks for the suggestion but I already tried to download a Grim Fandango PC savegame from internet but when I try to load it on Retropie, it shows an error. So probably they are incompatible.

@messo you would need a savegame from residualvm not from the PC version of Grim Fandango.
