      Hello!

Happy to say I just installed RetroPie and have been enjoying it very much. I purchased a SNES USB controller as well as a USB N64 controller as those are the older systems I like to play.

My question is, what is the best way to configure the N64 controller. When I went to configure the input for the controller it, of course, say it as a basic joystick and didn't have inputs for the Yellow - C buttons. One game that I would love to play is Zelda but I know I need every button to work correctly. If you could provide me directions or even better a step by step on how to configure this controller I would be extremely grateful.

      Thanks,

      Matt

I haven't messed with this much...yet but I plan to revisit this sometime soon.

One thing that will help you get help on here is if you follow these guidelines:

Like you need to tell us what emulator you are using and etc.

Have a look at this document and find the controller settings for the N64 emulator you are trying to use:

Thanks. I am not used to posting on forums.

I am using RetroPie 4.1 (I don't know if that is the emulator or if other ones are installed for different consoles). I have this installed on a Raspberry Pi 3 with a 32GB SD card.

The controller that I want to configure is Retrolink Nintendo 64 Classic USB Enabled Wired Controller.

And I just read your second link and that looks like exactly what I need to know. I hope that all the buttons correlate with the games like they should but that helps a ton! I will give those a shot tonight.

          Thanks for your response.

Also there are some Video Tutorials further down on that same document that might be of some help as well.

You can see which emulator you are using from the Runcommand screen (which is what pops up for a couple seconds when you first launch a game). If you have more than one emulator for a system install, you can change the emulator from the Runcommand. Here are the documents about Runcommand:
