I've built a bartop retropie games machine and I've come upon an issue I can't quite figure out. I'm using Retropie 4.0.2 and Adafruit retrogame to configure the GPIO. I'm using a Pi3 with the supplied power supply.

I got my joystick and buttons mapped using retrogame, and in retropie I configured the input and have full control moving around the menus etc. but whenever I launch a game(I tried games in NES and SNES, they work with a USB controller), the joystick and buttons don't work in the games. I think there is probably some setting or something to let the emulators know I'm using retrogame, but I'm not sure where to look. I've been searching the forums all evening and couldn't find the answer.

      Thanks for you help :-)

I just wanted to update this post as I fixed the issue. I had installed the Adafruit-Retrogame manually and forgot to add the rules (see end of this guide https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Retrogame)

now it's working, hope this helps fix similar issues.
