Gamepad and Light bolt problem (Rpi3)
-
Hello,
Today I encountered a strange problem
I have a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B with Retropie installed and updated. I am using it at least for 2 months without any problems. But today i noticed that the yellow lighting bolt is ALWAYS ON when i have my logitech gamepad connected. The power supply is ok. When i disconnect it bolt dissapears and game runs smooth. When I reconnect it bolt is on again.
It seems weird to me. Is there someone who encountered this problem also? And what does it mean? I cannot understand. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks in advance. -
The power supply is ok.
It's probably not broken or anything, but it's very likely that it doesn't meet the required specifications.
-
I forgot to mention that the red led blinks
I say that the power supply is ok because i use this supply with no problems or bolts for a long time.
Its only today this happened. -
What are the specifications (volts/amps)?
-
@mediamogul
5v/2.1 A -
It's just a bit under requirements, but it shouldn't be enough to struggle with just one controller. Do you have anything else connected?
-
i have also connected a wireless mouse/keyboard. but the problem appears only in gamepad
-
If you disconnect the keyboard and mouse, are you then able to use the gamepad without the power issue?
-
no im not able
-
Assuming that the power supply simply isn't failing, that gamepad must be drawing a lot of power. It may be necessary to get a power supply that is at or even above the normal amperage specs, like 3 Amps. What kind of gamepad is it?
-
logitech dual action
But all the time i was using it it was working well.
May some updates caused that problem? -

Sometimes it can happen that a system update will tip you over the edge of what a power supply can handle. If that is in fact the case here, then you were probably at the borderline all along.
