No audio on Retropie 4.1 on Pi 3 B
-
I previously had a retropie running on the original Raspberry Pi B and did not have this problem. I just put the image of Retropie 4.1 from retropie.org onto my new Pi 3 B. The image works great except I cannot get the audio to work at all. I have tried using HDMI as well as 3.5mm. I have also tried a variety of solutions such as changing TV's, changing different volume and audio output settings within Retropie setup menus, raising the system volume, raising the volume on the tv. Hopefully there is something that I have been missing.
In a less pressing matter, I have also been trying to get the new version Xbox One wireless controller to work with Retropie and I have not been able to do it, not even when corded with a usb cord. Is this controller supposed to work and is there a way to get it to be recognized by Retropie? Thanks for the help.

@wpascarelli to use the 3.5mm while using hdmi you need to go into the retropie menu and go into audio and switch to the 3.5mm but to fix the hdmi audio open /boot/config.txt and remove the hashtag # in front of:
#hdmi_drive=2
So it looks like this then save. Then reboot system.
hdmi_drive=2

My audio problem has been solved. Right after I posted this question I saw a youtube video where the guy removed the # symbol in the config.txt file in one of the lines about hdmi audio. I tried this and now my hdmi audio is working great.
I would still like some guidance about the XBox One controller, however. I am using wired SNES clone controllers for now but I would like to get this XBOX One controller to work. Thanks. -
@wpascarelli Which model of controller is it?
-
@AlexMurphy i dont know what the models are called, i think its called "6CL-00001"? Its supposed to be the newest model. It has a headphone jack on the bottom and textured grip if that helps.

@wpascarelli Okay. If you can't be bothered to find out.... good luck.

@AlexMurphy I dont understand what you mean. The number of it is called 6CL-00001. I dont know if that is the "Model" you are referring to but I am not familiar with what the models are called aside from this. There is also a number 1708 on the box. Perhaps that is the model?
If you Google 6CL-00001, it brings up the results for the exact controller model which I have. Can you tell me another way to find out the "Model" that you are referring to and I will gladly get that info for you. Thanks.
