Question on multiple users and saves/savestates.

Hi! I am thinking about building a Pi emulator but I have a few questions. I have done some searching on the forum but did not find clear answers.
- Does the system allow for multiple users to have separate saves/savestates?
- Does this vary by emulator?
- Does each user have their own login to the system to allow for each to have their own saves and configurations?
- Is it simple enough for 10+ kids and a non-techie wife to log in, play, save, and load games?
This generally appeared to be the case, but if someone could clarify, I would sure appreciate it as it weighs on my decision to pull the trigger.
