Problems installing VICE emulator

Hi everyone,

I am having some troubles to install VICE on my system (details below). I go to the retropie setup script and select it from optional packages. I can install it from binary, but for some reason or other it doesn't work. I try to update it from binary or from source and I get the following error "Could not successfully build vice - C64 emulator VICE (/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/vice/src/x64 not found".

Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 3
Power Supply used: 5V 2.5A
RetroPie Version Used: 4.1/4.1.18 (Retropie Setup Script)
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: External HD; mini wireless keyboard touchpad dongle
Controller used: Keyboard
Error messages received: "Could not successfully build vice - C64 emulator VICE (/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/vice/src/x64 not found"
Emulator: VICE

How to replicate the problem: Every time I try to install VICE from source ou update it.

@lemossilva did you update the retropie-setup first?

@edmaul69 Yes, i've just updated it. (Last commit about 5 hours ago)

@lemossilva the latest upstream code isn't compiling, but binary install should be fine. Install from binary and then we can debug that. upstream code often breaks during development etc (unless we lock down to specific versions).

i have exact the same problem in linux mint. but there is no option to install from binaries, only install from source. what can i do?

I have reported the problem upstream - https://sourceforge.net/p/vice-emu/bugs/876/ and have disabled midi support so it builds. Please update retropie-setup and try again.

I actually forgot to push my changes, but the issue is fixed upstream now so it should compile again.

Vice won't build from source. :\ same error as above
