Looking through the forum and seeing all these new editors and helpers, it would be a nice addition to https://retropie.org.uk/docs/ from @herb_fargus to have some common page listing all these tool on one page at the documentation section.

To create such a list, we should list all the tools here first.

      Windows based

      • Metadata Editor by @amadeus (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4152)

      Linux based

      Web based

It does seem like there is an awful lot of helpers out there in the forum ether.

Rookervik made a theme helper for emulationstation:

        https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/60872572/EmulationStation/ES Theme Helper3.rar

If at all possible it would be nice if all these helpers were sourced on GitHub somewhere just for consistency instead of having all these varying executables that will inevitably have broken links.

Also I'm not sure how many are actively maintained

XML editor by rookervik (also Windows based.

          Universal XML creator by @screech

@herb_fargus Yeah, being on a Mac kinda sucks when all the scrapers and tools are written for windows.

We have to include the OP's YARMan Web (former RetroPie WebGUI) + Metadata Editor (BETA)

@herb_fargus In a new RetroPie repository, or would it be ok for anyone to host them? I'm happy to volunteer for the latter if it meant the tools weren't permanently buried down in the forums.

@robertybob I don't have a preference. Would be preferable for the creators to host the source themselves with binary releases but short of that if they don't or won't then I don't see any issue with you consolidating them. My main concern is just for the software to disappear because it was hosted on some shady download site

@herb_fargus @Rookervik the theme helper link doesn't work any more, do either of you still have it and can upload it again?

Only reason there's so much Windows crap is because Windows has a LOT of visual software-creation suites. No programming needed, just plug things in, on-screen, and set some connections in the background and you have a program. Not much of that on Linux or Mac I'm afraid. I can't code, but I can plug stuff in and export an exe :D

See if this link works. I can't stand Github. So, sorry if it's annoying finding the file.

@Rookervik Thank you so much! It's such a useful tool. I think it would go really well in the ES Toolkit that @mattrixk has put together.
