Is there any support for trackball and spinner input in lr cores (lr-mame2003 for example)? This would be raw capture of "mouse" inputs for games like Tempest, Missle Command, Crystal Castles, etc. I have searched and cannot find any suggestions. In fact, I have seen some claims that if a joypad is detected there is no hope. That won't affect me, but I am wondering how to enable mouse inputs.

      Pi Model: Pi3

USB Devices connected: Ultimarc u-trac trackball, GGG Turbotwist spinners, iPAC-4
      Controller used: ipac (keyboard input)

        Thanks

if you press tab whilst running mame2003, and go to the mame input options, there are ways of defining axes for spinners and stuff. i've heard people say spinners aren't supported in mame2003, but i am curious why not, if the options are there?

if anyone tries it out, let me know! maybe i'll try myself with a USB mouse later.

@dankcushions It doesn't work. I have 2 usb "mice" connected and neither work. One is the Ultimarc U-Trak which is a USB mouse in every other sense, and the other is a Groovy Game Gear TurboTwist 2 interface with two spinners connected. These function as a single mouse moving x and y directions (like an etch-a-sketch).

All three work will in Advmame, but of course, I'd rather be using 2003 whenever possible!

Yes, confirmed. There are menu options for it in 2003, but it won't pick up any mouse movement when you try to change it. Hence, no trackball or spinner games will work properly. I would put this on the wish list for 2003 which just might make it the best emulator to use. Off topic, any chance of getting 2003 updated from Mame 78 to 84? More game support, and is known as the last stable build for Mame.

              Thanks :)

:( if you want, you could log an issue here: https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-libretro/issues

i'm not sure if it's an issue with libretro (the api), or mame itself. if it's the former, i think it's more likely to be fixed, but yeah!

hmm, that would be tricky i think. perhaps if the source code is available somewhere we could see the differences.
