Hi All, I've started to make some overlays for a few of the fighting games I have in FBA with all the character moves because I'm getting old and cant remember all of them.

For some reason, it all worked fine to start with, but now it's just loading the Street Fighter CE overlay for all roms in FBA and its also lost sound for all games in FBA.

I have a second retropie system and I have none of these issues on this machine. Both are the same version of retropie and I have the same overlays and config files loaded.

I have looked through the retroarch.cfg in the \retropie\configs\fba folder for reference and at the bottom it states: "input_overlay = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/overlays/arcade-bezels/sf2ce.cfg""

I've tried deleting this, but then when I load a game that has an overlay, it saves this overlay for all other roms and codes this back into the retroarch.cfg

Any help would be appreciated. I don't know if this has anything to do with me starting to load overlays on the system or if my kids have just played with one of the other settings to get it all messed up.

Details of my arcade machine are as following:
Pi Model or other hardware: Pi B3
Power Supply used: original raspberry pi one (5V 2.5A)
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.1.14
      Built From: retropie-4.1-rpi2_rpi3.img
      USB Devices connected: nil
      Controller used: IPAC2

      Cheers

        two quotes at the end?

depends on your overlay .cfgs. if you've created a .zip.cfg file in the rom directory, and have config_save_on_exit = true in your /all/ or /fba/ retroarch.cfg, then it will propagate these settings to the main .cfg every time you exit. for this reason i suggest using retroarch's built-in rom overrides facility. you can see examples of there here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4046/crt-pi-shader-users-reduce-scaling-artifacts-with-these-configs-in-lr-mame2003-lr-fbalpha-lr-nestopia-and-more-to-come/2

Thanks @dankcushions . It did have config_save_on_exit = true in the /fba/ retroarch.cfg. the cfg was full of other useless crap as well (50kb file) so I ended up just deleting this file and copying the .cfg for the other system to this pi.

Everything is working normal now, but I'm getting an error when I start a ROM on FBA that settings could not be saved to the /fba/ retroarch.cfg?

i guess when you copied the file it has the wrong privileges? if you're happy with the your FBA config i guess it doens't matter :)

How would I change the privileges of the file? Just in case I want to make some changes later on in life.
