Controllers not responding in Attract Mode emulators.

I used the search function and tried to find a soluntion but so far no luck. I installed Retropie with Attract Mode on a RPI3. Configured everything in retropie including my wired SNES controller and things worked fine. Switched to AM and configured the menu buttons for the SNES controller. At this point everything is working , roms loaded, but when I load a game the controller has no response. The keyboard buttons still work fine and when I exit the game the controller works fine in the AM menus. I even went back to emulation station and the controller works fine there too. It is only in AM when I load a game. Thanks for the help.

Just an update if anyone ever has the same problems. I went is a reset my controller configuration and rebooted to ES and was prompted to map keys like when you first boot. Mapped all the keys, switched to AM and everything works fine.
