New Comic Book Theme!

Wow, This theme is so awesome! Would be really cool if we could get support for "System videos". I could easily help make a few with your awesome graphics. Just to show what I mean with System Videos here is a Mega Man collection video I made for HyperPie (Attract Mode):
-
@calle81 I put that request in for the amazing crew of code guys that are working hard on ES right now. It is on their Radar so we will see if and when it might get implemented. I think it might be a pretty big task and they are working on some other really cool ideas right now. Very cool video! Nice work

When will the theme come out?@TMNTturtlguy
-
@CodeDrawer The theme is already available through the them downloader on the retropie menu. The update will come in the next week or so, i was hoping this weekend, but we will see. I want to complete both the 4:3 and the 16:9 and release them at the same time.
-
@TMNTturtlguy Keep up the good work I'll get it later in the day.

Can anyone share the Favorites.svg system logo i have seen floating around in screen shots with me? i would like to use it as the secondary system logo in the theme, but i can't find it anywhere. Thank you

@screech Hey, have you noticed with your theme that if you are looking at a game list that doesn't have videos, and just a screenshot, your theme doesn't display it? Nintendo FDS is a good example I'm speaking about. I have a good scrape, but there are only about 15 or so videos, and the rest are all images. None of the images are displaying. For instance... the first game in the list "Adian no Tsue (Japan)" has a scraped screenshot. No box art and no video. So all I see is a black box where the video usually goes, and a gray box where the other art (box) would be. I remember you saying something about the themes not being able to support 2 images at the same time. But it should be displaying something if something exists right? Furthermore, if I go to the end of the FDS list, I have "Zelda no Densetsu - The Hyrule Fantasy (Japan) (Rev 1)". This game also doesn't have a video, but the image it scraped is the box art. When I look at THAT game, I see the box art in both locations (the video panel and the extra panel under the "rip" image). So is this skin still kinda buggy, do I need to rescrape again, or is there something else missing? I'm using the "Automatic" Gamelist View Style.
EDIT - Changed the view style to BASIC, and NOTHING shows... changed to Detailed, and I get the games that have boxarts displaying in the "video" panel. But ONLY the images that are boxart. The screenshots aren't showing. When I change it to VIDEO view style, I get the same results as if I were in AUTOMATIC. Is it possible it's not displaying the screenshots because they're not in the correct resolution or aspect ratio?

@hansolo77 First off, @screech runs the universal XML scraper, I created the theme so i am not sure who you are directing which questions at.
Next, Emulationstation can only support one meta data "image" per view. It must be <image> in your gamelist. You can also have 1 "marquee" and that will only work in video view.
All the systems in the theme have the same xml setup so i am not sure what the issue would be with just FDS except for how you have scraped it, and how your gamelist is written. Could you post one rom from the gamelist that is not working as you think it should?
Video view and automatic view: For the 15 roms you have videos for you should have videos in the large black box. If you have an image in the <image> line of your gamelist, that image will show in the small gray box. No other images will show up no matter what you have scraped.
For all other roms that don't have vidoes, the same image should show twice, in the large black box and in the small grey box.
Detailed View: the image you have in your gamelist line <image> should show in the large black box. Nothing should shown in the bottom gray box, this will be changed in the next updated.
Basic Viewno images should show in this view.
As for your edit comment - i need to see your gamelist. I am assuming that the boxart is in the <image> line and the screen shot is either not in the list, or is possibly under a different name such as <thumbnail> which is currently not supported by Emulationstation.

@meleu
I am going to put both of these guys in the art folder so users can assign whichever they want, but what mega man should i set as default for the Mega Man system?Mega Man 1:
Mega Man 2:

Wow!! Looks great!! Are you going to put that on your "official" ComicBook repo?
-
Yeah, sorry about that. I @'d the wrong guy lol. I like the 1st MegaMan picture myself. :)
As for my problem... here is a game entry in the gamelist.xml that shows nothing:
<game id="88114" source="ScreenScraper"> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/Adian no Tsue (Japan).zip</path> <name>Adian no Tsue [Japan]</name> <desc>Adian no Tsue ("Staff of Adian") is an educational action-adventure game in which you control a boy named Lucian who sets out to rescue Princess Patricia from a demon King. You must navigate levels by defeating enemies with your staff as well as solving arithmetic problems in order to earn bells and experience. Bells are the currency you'll use to buy items from the shopkeeper and 600 experience points are required in order to open the door to the next level or trigger the boss battle in specific rooms you'll need to discover.</desc> <image/> <image>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/art/Adian no Tsue (Japan)-image.jpg</image> <marquee/> <video/> <thumbnail/> <rating>0.55</rating> <releasedate>19861212T000000</releasedate> <developer>Sunsoft</developer> <publisher>Sunsoft</publisher> <genre>Adventure</genre> <players>1</players> </game>
I'm confused why the UXS screen scraper created a blank
<image/>
after the "description". That might be my problem. Here is an example of a working video with a box art (2nd one on the list):<game id="71309" source="ScreenScraper"> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/Ai Senshi Nicol (Japan).zip</path> <name>Ai Senshi Nicol [Japan]</name> <desc>Help the brave inventor Nicol rescue his kidnapped girlfriend Stella from a Demon Bull King from the planet Dairass in this overhead action game. Control Nicol through 7 continents as he recovers 3 pieces on each level to his dimensional transporter invention that the Demon King stole and encased in diamonds. You'll blast away at various minions and avoid treacherous terrain while exploring multiple floors of each continent searching out the diamonds to be re-united with Stella and defeat the evil Demon King!</desc> <image>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/art/Ai Senshi Nicol (Japan)-image.jpg</image> <marquee/> <video>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/art/Ai Senshi Nicol (Japan)-video.mp4</video> <thumbnail/> <rating>1</rating> <releasedate>19870424T000000</releasedate> <developer>Konami</developer> <publisher>Konami</publisher> <genre>Shooter</genre> <players>1</players> </game>
So this one doesn't have that mysterious additional
<image/>
. Lastly here is an example of a game that has the box art in both locations:<game id="88273" source="ScreenScraper"> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/Zelda no Densetsu - The Hyrule Fantasy (Japan) (Rev 1).zip</path> <name>Zelda no Densetsu - The Hyrule Fantasy [Japan]</name> <desc/> <image>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fds/art/Zelda no Densetsu - The Hyrule Fantasy (Japan) (Rev 1)-image.jpg</image> <marquee/> <video/> <thumbnail/> <rating>0</rating> <releasedate>19860221T000000</releasedate> <developer>Nintendo</developer> <publisher>Nintendo</publisher> <genre>Adventure</genre> <players>1</players> </game>
So that one doesn't have a video, and shows the image in both places.
I just did a "Find & Replace" to remove all those
<image/>
entries.. testing now. -
@TMNTturtlguy between those two I prefer the first. ;-)
-
Success! Removing all those strange
<image/>
entries fixed the static screenshot not showing. Only buggy thing now is "why did it do that in the first place?" That, and having 2 identical images, but that can't be fixed (yet). Thanks for calling me out like that to check the xml. :) -
@hansolo77 yes, you have correctly identified the problem. Once you remove the extra image line, it should work. The image showing twice will in video view is correct, nothing i can do about that until more images can be added to the theme, and ES has to be modified for that to happen.
EDIT: beat me to the post - nice work
-
@meleu do you have a different image in mind? It needs to be one he is leaning forward or coming out of the screen - a lot of the good ones i like he leans back.
-
@meleu yes! i am almost done with the 16:9 and then i need to do the 4:3 and then i will release 1 large update.

Also it really looks like he is pushing out of the page.

Yes. This one:
It's based on the title screen of the very first version of the game (it's named Rockman in Japan):
