      Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 3
      Power Supply used: 2.5A Micro USB Power Supply
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.2
      Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: none, keyboard upon initial set up
      Controller used: 8bitdo SNES30 Wireless Bluetooth Controller

      Hi, I am new to RetroPie and emulating.
      I was able to set up the Raspberry Pi 3 without a hitch.
      However, once I actually launched a ROM, specifically SNES Donkey Kong Country, I was only able to move left, right and down.
      I was not able to use any other inputs from the controller. The controller works fine in the menus prior t launch.
      I search and was unable to find a solution that I understood. So I come here looking for help.
      If I am missing information please let me know.
      Thank you!

        @Tearnov check the docs:
        https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/

        In the step 4 there's an instruction to turn off the "8bitdo hack". If you turned it off, turn it on and configure the input through emulationstation again.

          Those are the instructions I followed when setting up the controller.
          I'll try removing the controller from the bluetooth and doing those instructions over again.
          Thank you for the response.

            update: I went to update everything in the retropie data. that didn't seem to work. However, I disabled or turned OFF the map hacking which I had ON and the controller works with ROMS now
