      RetroPie v4.2
      Controller: PS4 Controller
      Filename: retropie-4.2-rpi1_zero
      Guide: https://www.howtogeek.com/286842/how-to-build-your-own-nes-classic-with-a-raspberry-pi-and-retropie/

      Hi,

Before I start, any replies that you make, try to be as simple and clear as possible, as this is my first time doing anything like this.

What have I done?: I have installed RetroPie on my Raspberry Pi Model b+ and it loaded fine when turning on the Pi. I did some configuration in the settings, connected it to the Internet via Ethernet and was able to put roms onto RetroPie by connecting to it in Windows and copying the Roms across to the correct folder: 'nes'. I rebooted the Pi, opened up the NES tab, which had just appeared and all 17 of my roms appeared. Great! But...

My problem: When I load a rom, doesn't matter which one, it always says (roughly)
      'Loading (rom name),
Press a button to configure the rom (something like that)
      Error logged in (error log)'

A few seconds after this, it returns back to the Rom menu. There is nothing to indicate what is wrong, all I know is that I am not able to load any of the roms.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

      Thanks in advance,
      Louis.

@herb_fargus Hi, upon checking the link which I have actually seen already, it doesn't seem to have anything that tells me how I can fix the issue that I am facing. This wasn't just a post to get your count up higher, or is there anything that would actually help me? If there is anything, please try and give me tips or instructions on them, it would be much more helpful. (Note, I am not trying to sound rude, I am just getting slightly impatient that I still have found an answer, thanks for understanding :))

Thanks and have a nice day,

          Louis.

@loubatron03 Most likely you have the wrong type of roms (without headers). This is mentioned on the page.

unpack the rom and do file /path/to/rom from commandline and it will tell you what sort of file it is. If it says data file it's the wrong type. If it recognises it as a nes rom, it's correct.
