April 1st - ho ho :-)

@BuZz I hope you stick around though, especially now that I just gave you your 1000ths reputation point! :P

I think retropie is like getting a swiss army knife with 200 functions and without a manual. It makes it extremely fun to see what you can make it do after you think you've found everything!
Although we do have a manual (And a good one at that imho) ;-) There are gaps still, but people are free to add missing stuff.
Thanks. I'm not going to give up, but I do feel like it sometimes. It's a thankless job at times and a lot of work is involved - as well as managing the main code base(s) and building the binaries, I admin the server, website, forum and so on. It's a full time job on top of my full time job :)
I appreciate all those who contribute - couldn't do it without them - especially @herb_fargus. Cheers. (Plus I hate writing documentation!)

Wow, Kodi took down their site, blog forums and even their repos. Talk about committing to a bit. Funny stuff.
-
@BuZz How about you have this image display on first boot?
-
@lilbud it would just be removed i think. We have a message when updating RetroPie setup. The person who registered the RetroPie trademark removed that on their fork (their only changes really).
-
@BuZz Any news on that whole situation? Can we sue the pants off him?
-
@BuZz I was late to replying here - read this on my phone - but I love coming here every day and seeing what everyone is up to. It's a vibrant community of people who, for the most part, share the same love for old games. That's certainly how I feel, and the reason I'm around is partly because I want to enjoy them again, I want to be able to enjoy them with my kids, and I want to help others enjoy them as well.
Nobody can begin to imagine how you feel in your position, as you said it's a thankless job at times, and getting more and more people using it and coming across perhaps as "entitled" or with different expectations about what RetroPie really is, can certainly be draining and drown out the community spirit from the people who value the project, your (and by "your" I mean the team's and everybody's) contributions, and make this a great place to be.
I feel thankful and - why not - blessed for having run into RetroPie back in August last year, after hesitating for quite a while, and having found a fantastic community here. I feel that if the project would not be around, the entire retro-gaming community would be very much worse off, and I know that my days - and the days of many in the community - would certainly be less fun.
Keep up the great work, and a tremendous thank you to you and everyone for making this a great place to be, and a great project to be part of.

@lilbud i have been informed the trademark was cancelled although I've not been able to verify. Signed agreement with attorney who will help us register trademark. Will.send that back to them tomorrow. I'll do an update on the blog with more info when i have it.
-
@pjft cheers! Btw if i ever did stop developing, the project would go on without me. Florian and Herb both have full access to everything etc.
-
@BuZz You didn't use these lawyers, did you?
-
@lilbud no, but i bet they would give us a firm offer!
-
-
@mediamogul That was something that would belong in me and my friends shitposting chat.
-
-
@BuZz Now I understand why it's called Law Firm ;-)

Plus I hate writing documentation!Maybe you should write a documentation. And post it all in code or binary. :)
-
You got me, I was terrified it was something to do with the 'legal thing' !( hours of pressing refresh with a panicked look on my face!!
Don't give up, please, on this or us, there's too much love here:))
-
@BuZz, @herb_fargus and to all other contributors: just want so say one word for all your support and work - THANKS!

What can we do to help? Aside from more money, which would help with the bills but not the work, those of us who aren't coders, what can we do to help spread out the burden of maintaining everything?
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
