PCSX2 On 64bit Ubuntu
-
Hello, I do not know if anyone already answered this question but I can not find the PCSX2 Emulator in my exp. packages.
I am running 64bit retropie and dolphin is working fine.
Has anybody an idea how to find it, or is there no PCSX2 package for 64bit systems.
Thank you for you answers. -
@weaster007 Installing PCSX2 was disabled in 64bit by this commit because "there are sdl2 version conflicts that cannot be easily resolved currently with the i386 packages."
-
@dudleydes oh well that is bad news.
What exactly does that mean? I just understand half of it. What are sdl2 version conflicts and is there a chance that it will work some day? -
@weaster007 Here is the post that prompted the commit. I thinks it's to do with PCSX2 being supported on 32 bit systems only. This will require 32 bit libraries which, in turn, can end up breaking things when trying to run on a 64 bit system.

We use a custom SDL2 to fix up some bugs. This conflicts with the i386 SDL2 packages which are needed to install PCSX2. I don't want to disable our custom SDL2, so we have to wait until PCSX2 supports 64bit natively. Alternatively you can install 32bit Ubuntu on your system (which is fine for emulation, and may actually offer better compatibility due to the age of some of the emulators).

@BuZz I was actually thinking about building a gaming pc to run 64-bit Ubuntu along with Retropie but I wanted to be able to play Dolphin and PCSX2 games. So is this not possible? You mentioned installing 32-bit Ubuntu but Dolphin 5.0 says it requires a 64-bit OS.......

I tried it on a 32-bit installation of ubuntu and I must say it runs okay. However I don't know if it is really Dolphin 5.0.
It says "Dolphin f94cd57".
