Arcade BIOS' - which ones are needed?
-
So I am using motionblue 4 (ES) and trying to do some cleanup of each system and Arcade is where I hit a snag. All other systems are now clean - wheel and snap for every game I have in the folder - no missing vids. Arcade is almost perfect, except for the various system/BIOS files that are mixed in with the games. Naturally none of these have snaps to them, since they are not games, and this drives me nuts. I can't seem to find a way to hide them, so perhaps I can delete ones that are not needed? Are certain BIOS needed for games? I know neogeo.zip is, but I moved all neogeo games out of the Arcade folder, so that one can be deleted. What about all the rest? Ex. Namco 50xx, Atari system 1 BIOS, bsmt2000, qsound, etc etc. Which must be here, which can go; can any go to the BIOS folder in the /home/pi/RetroPie folder?
Any advise would be great
TIA

@razinx My advice is to keep the BIOS for any ROMs /systems that you want to continue to use. If you don't use them, then delete them.

@razinx you can see what those bios's are used for in the compatibility lists in the wiki for the mame emulator in question. there's a 'bios' column.

@razinx if you really want to hide the bios files, you can open the zip and add the contents to the zip for the game that requires that bios.
So the contents of pgm.zip could be added into kov.zip, and you wouldn't have that bios showing up in ES. Now of course this will make your roms bigger and so your set will be bigger.
