Pi Inside a Wii Console
-
Hello everyone!
So I was thinking of taking an old Wii that I had, taking it apart, and put a Raspberry Pi 3B inside it.
The problem is, I don't know what screwdrivers I have to buy or use to open this WIi. Any Ideas? I would also like a guide for how to take apart the wii.
I'm also going into this not knowing anything about hardware and volts. -

Good luck on this project. Can't wait to see the result! Need help, let me know.

Should be easy enough to do. Good luck with the project!
You could even use an adapter to use Gamecube controllers with the original ports on the Wii.

@obsidianspider Have you ever gotten that to work? I never could.

buy one of these screw drivers, Ive taken a few wiis apart to chip them in the past. It was easy peasy.
I dont know why you would put a pi in a wii though, in terms of emulation I think the Wii can run most of if not all of the emulators on the homebrew channel.
I may put homebrew on mine, I never did because i didnt want them to brick it, but now the online services are all dead and gone I may go for it.

@spruce_m00se I did homebrew on mine, and ripped all my wii and gc games to a harddrive

@lilbud I added an external SD card reader to mine that uses the GC exploit to load up and inject game data into the CD data line, it was great about 8 years ago when I did it, I could play any backup online with no issues, never got bricked.
Is there a good tutorial around on how to get all of the old 8 and 16 bit roms onto the wii?
-
@lilbud I've not used one, but I see there are a few four-port GC adapters online.

So maybe I might change the project.
I dunno.
I have a working Wii, but I want to give it to my sister.
Or I could make a new case for the Wii, but I would need to 3d print it.(someone delete this post please, I might abandon it.)
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
