PS4 USB Wireless Adapter.
-
Morning,
So I bought a PS4 USB Wireless Adapter and it works fine in Emulation Station but when I launch a ROM the controller does not work anymore unless I plug it back into a USB cable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
@slarritt I have a PS4 build with 2 controllers and 2 USB dongles. My system works great In both ES and games so there is something specific with your build causing the issue. Here are some thoughts.
-
Try to re-pair the controller to the USB dongle and then redo the input configuration in ES.
-
Delete all of the PS4 controller profiles from both ES and Retroarch and then do step 1. This will give you a clean install of the controller configs. I am wondering if retroarch isn't reading the controller ID as a wired controller, so it is. It reaponding to the wireless usb input.
Hope these ideas work. Good luck

@TMNTturtlguy I also have a PS4 build with 2 PS4 controllers and 2 USB dongles, but I'm experiencing mixed results.
For the past few weeks, I've been using one dongle and everything felt great, so I decided to get a second one today for local multiplayer.
With both dongles set up, however, I'm noticing a large amount of input lag. Both PS4 controllers are the same model (CUH-7CT1U), and each one works perfectly fine on its own with its respective dongle, but when both are turned on together that's when the lag occurs.
Have you noticed this type of issue with your PS4 build? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

@Kantinho I have not noticed added lag with 2 players, but I honestly haven't spent to many hours playing 2 player games. We put a few hours in on some mane2003 games and on Mario Kart and Diddy Kong racing on N64 without problems. I have been working on other builds though. I plan to put more time into my PS4 build soon.

Update: Fixed the input lag issue I was experiencing.
Issue: Having two PS4 USB wireless adaptors plugged into the retropie at the same time was causing interference in the Bluetooth signals causing variable input lag when playing multiplayer games like street fighter iii: third strike.
Fix: I got a USB extension cable, plugged one end into the retropie and connected one of the dongles into the other end. This allowed me to create a bit of separation between the two USB adapters which was enough to remove the interference they were running on each other.
Hope that helps anyone else running into this issue while using multiple PS4 controllers connected to multiple USB dongles on the retropie. Btw, the dongles have worked out really well in my experience, much better (in terms of input responsiveness) than connecting the PS4 controllers directly to the Bluetooth from retropie.
